Prosper Bank begins as the “Industrial Building and Loan Association” in Coatesville, PA. Founded by 15 individuals with pooled resources of about $200, the association offers the underserved a chance at home ownership.
The association merges with Steel City Building and Loan and goes on to survive the 1929 stock market crash and the Great Depression.

The official name of the association is Coatesville Savings Bank after it becomes a state-chartered institution.
Coatesville Savings Bank opens its Oxford branch, serving southern Chester and Lancaster Counties.
